Herbs, Healing and Magic: A Correspondence Course

This 13-part course offers students a unique blend of traditional and magical herb lore with a 21st century understanding of herbal medicine. Lessons will include such diverse topics as herbs in food and drink for health and spells, the power of scent, herbs for the heart, both physically and emotionally, beauty and the skin, contacting plant spirits, using plant dyes and much more besides. Each section of the course will contain a booklet of information and assignments along with a surprise package of herbs, tinctures or other material. New lessons will be sent out as soon as the answers to the previous section have been received. The course is designed to take at least a year for most participants, but there are no time limits and each section should be an enjoyable experience.

Price

The course costs £150, payable in advance by cheque.

About the Course Leader

Val Thomas has been studying and using herbs for over forty years. She grew herbs as a child and bought her first magical herbal as a teenager. She has studied Anglo-Saxon herbals and worked with a traditional healer in the forests of Sweden, gathering wild plants and fungi for food, medicine and dyestuffs. In 2004 she qualified with a degree in Herbal Medicine from the University of East London. Val has run many weekend courses in Magical Herb Lore and is the author of A Witch’s Kitchen.

Participants in the correspondence course will be able to contact Val by post, email or telephone to ask questions and discuss ideas or problems.
